Amazing how time flies but but once again we are in the month of February and the 2012 Waste Management Open is getting underway in north Scottsdale. One big difference from this year compared to last is the weather. February in Phoenix is usually very nice but on occasion the cold winds of the north can show their ugly side here too.

This year promises to be awesome. Other than morning frost delays of about an hour the weather couldn’t be better which is one reason why many pros love this tournament. Weather today… sunny and high 60′s.

So far after round one here are some notable tidbits. Ryan Palmer is in the lead shooting a 7 under 64. Last years winner Mark Wilson is at 1 under. Phil Mickelson (-3), Dustin Johnson (-3), Rickie Fowler (-2).

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and Happy/Safe New Years. Weather here in Phoenix is gorgeous once again and its been in the upper 70′s and low 80′s for the last week! That is exactly why my wife and I live in the Phoenix area.

I have been by a few of the local golf courses over the last two weeks and I can tell you they look awesome. Some of the years best golfing can be had right now and a handful of courses I’ve been by lately are Las Sendas, Kierland, Desert Ridge, Grayhawk, Kokopelli and Troon North. You’ll pay a premium to golf here this time of year but it’s well worth it, especially if you don’t live here year round.

As far as real estate goes, in my opinion, 2012 will be the best time to buy a home in a Phoenix golf community since the late 90′s or very early 2000′s. We are actually seeing some areas with a “glimmer” of appreciation while most golf communities are holding steady with prices and have done so (for the most part) for the last 12+ months.
