The Miramar Water under theCity Utility Services Department, provides water for about 127,700 residentsliving in the Miramar area. Established in 1955, the Miramar Water operates twoTreatment Plants, the East Water Treatment Plant and the West Water TreatmentPlant, which draw groundwater supply from two underground reservoirs, (1) theBiscayne Aquifer, recharged primarily by rainfall and by surface water sourcessuch as Lake Okeechobee and the Everglades, and (2) the Floridan Aquifer, adeeper and more confined aquifer.
