I am looking for a potential roomate.
I'm going to try my best to be detailed but not turn this into a novel, which is what normally happens so, here we go!
My current roommate is leaving at the end of the month and I'm looking into potentially finding a new one. She's been here since March 2022 (crazy!).
It's a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment near North Medford High School.
I have an 8 year old son who is here 50/50 during the summer and a little less over the school year. I have let him co-sleep with me since moving in here (divorce) and he's not interested in sleeping by himself yet so, if there's a good fit out there we've decided to rent the room out again.
My son is technically autistic but most wouldn't know it. It tends to show up more in physical and mental growth delays. He still wears a 6T and isn't reading yet. That said, he is super sweet, smart and kind. He is REALLY well behaved.
The room I'm renting out is a decent size but the apartment is a little bit on the smaller side.
The landlord does make you pass a background check (criminal) and you have to have a job, but that's pretty much it.
I'm looking for someone who's more on the quiet and chill side. I try and get my son out doing stuff but when we're here, we usually game and watch stuff. I tend to be fairly clean but I'm not a clean freak. I can also be a little lax when my son is here.
I personally am not a big drinker and don't often have people over, but I also don't have any weird rules for you to live by. You can have your girlfriend/boyfriend stay the night, drink, smoke, I just ask that you don't smoke around my little one.
I would prefer someone that doesn't smoke cigs so please keep that in mind if you respond to this.
We live in very divided times so I'll be up front here. I do not care if you are gay, straight, trans or whatever else. I have friends who are very far left and very conservative. What I do care about is that you are someone who can still be respectful to people who disagree with you. I am "unvaxxed" and though I consider myself a moderate, I do usually lean a little right. I will be kind and respect you, regardless of your beliefs, if you can't do the same, please don't respond.
The "lease" is month to month, with no deposit. The room comes with a bed that I had bought prior to my current roommate. It should still be in great condition (didn't ask) so someone who needs a bed is preferred. I'd prefer not getting rid of it!
My previous roommate lives downstairs and sometimes her daughter comes up and plays with my son, so you do need to be normal enough to be around kids (hey, it is Craigslist) and be OK with kids being here sometimes. That said, it's generally super quiet here.
Lastly, when I moved in the landlord said he would be selling these apartments in 6 months. It's been 34 months.... it is possible these could sell in 4 or 5 months but it's super unlikely. He still has a lot to do before he can even list them. Being that it's month to month, you can leave whenever, but I would prefer someone who's open to staying for 4-6 months instead of 2-3, if you like it here!
I also forgot to mention, I have a cat. She is a "service animal". That's the only way the landlord allows animals (I know, lame!) so having additional animals here would be a challenge, but it's something we could talk about.
And another lastly, my work schedule is Monday to Friday starting at 8 AM, or 8 AM ish. Lol. My current roommate had the same schedule and we made it work but I did want to mention that as it's something to consider. I tend to get in the shower at 6:55 and my goal is to leave by 7:35. Unfortunately for you, your room is the one closest to the bathroom but I try my best to be quiet if you're sleeping at that time. I also sleep with a fan (usually 2) so if you are up later, you won't bother me!
