An innovative #Stroud brewery owner has come up with a simple guide for pubs who are looking to embrace #sustainability into their operation.Greg Pilley of the award winning Stroud Brewery - a certified B Corporation has written a short guide to help pubs tackle the environmental crisis by suggesting ways they can save money while also contributing to saving the planet.Launched on ‘National Beer Day’, Greg’s ‘Sustainability in Pubs – Getting Started’ guide is aimed at publicans who are interested in making their pub greener but haven’t yet begun a journey. It offers 10 top tips covering straight-forward yet effective ways on how to reduce waste and energy, switch to renewable energy, use local suppliers and get staff and customers involved. Greg said: “I completely understand why some publicans could be put off by the green agenda, given all the other tasks and worries they’re juggling right now but the important thing to remember is that sustainability can be a ‘win-win’. Many activities that have lower environmental impact will also help towards reducing costs such as energy and water bills.”An excellent idea indeed - well done Greg :) The guide is available through this link: https://lnkd.in/eETtTp7BRussell Warner #glosbiz #Stroud #Gloucestershire #pubs Caroline Aistrop GFirst LEP - Gloucestershire's Local Enterprise Partnership The Growth Hub Stroud

Throughout The HEINEKEN Company's 159-year history, water has been a constant area of focus.Back in 1864, when Gerard Adriaan Heineken opened the first Heinekenbrewery in Amsterdam, a clean water supply was also established for thelocal communities because businesses can only thrive when ourcommunities do well. This year's World Water Day theme "Water for Peace" brings attention tothe role water plays in the stability and well-being of communities in water-stressed areas around the world. Our strategy towards healthy watershedsaims to protect and restore the watersheds from which we source our water.Through nature-based solutions like large-scale reforestation and rainwater harvesting our ambition is to fully balance and replenish 100% ofwater used for our products back to the watershed by 2030 through multi-year water balancing activities and collective action in water-stressed sites.Read more about our progress in our annual report:https://lnkd.in/gkj3Pzyg#BrewABetterWorld #WorldWaterDay #Environment #Waterforpeace

Our business relies on nature. To ensure our vines are grounded in good soils, we align to local sustainability standards. Our ambition is to source 100% sustainable grapes by 2030.Local sustainability standards consider the unique nature of the terroirs where our grapes grow, and define environmentally sustainable practices around biodiversity, soil, energy, waste, water and more. This builds common understanding of sustainable practices within our winemaking communities and for consumers – creating Trustmark’s for sustainably produced wine.In New Zealand, we use 100% certified Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand (SWNZ).In Australia, our own vineyards are aligned to Sustainable Winegrowing Australia (SWA), and we are working with our growing partners to do the same. We’re delighted to see the industry come together and the brilliant progress made this year, with over 80% of our Australian-sourced grapes coming with the SWA seal of approval.🥂 Cheers to that!Read more about our environmental targets and progress with A Year in Focus FY22 here https://lnkd.in/g5p6Awf7#PRWLife #CommittedToTheVine New Zealand Wine The Australian Wine Research Institute Wine Australia

It may not be 'easy' being green, but teamwork and a partnership with IWCA - International Wineries for Climate Action makes it a little 'less hard.'Today, we are proud to announce our Silver Status Membership to IWCA.What does this mean?It means we are committed to reducing our carbon emissions and we take our love of the land seriously.Like:• All 2,200 acres of our estate vineyards are farmed and certified 100% sustainable; LIVE in Oregon and Sustainable WA in Washington. • A reduction of emissions by light weighting standard glass bottles and adopting alternative packaging such as cans and bag-in-the box for select brands, including Chateau Ste. Michelle, 14 Hands and Columbia Crest. Green and Silver. Those are our true colors.

🌍 Celebrating World Water Day, we spotlight Heineken Spain's 2023 milestone:achieving the status water balanced across our breweries in Spain. What exactly does this status being water balanced mean? For every liter of beer we produce, we consume 2.9 liters of water:- 1.5 liters are retained in the beer and evaporate during the brewing process.-1.4 liters are used during cleaning and maintenance processes. This water undergoes collection, treatment in our wastewater plant, and is then returned to the watershed. Achieving the water-balanced status in our breweries involves compensating for the 1.5 liters, contained in the beer and evaporated during brewing. How do we compensate those 1.5 liters…….. do we produce H2O? No, we don't create water; we champion water stewardship projects devised by water engineers.Working closely with local experts and authorities, our projects aim to bolster watershed health through improved filtration and water retention techniques.🌱Highlighting our commitment, initiatives in:-Doñana Natural Park in cooperation with the Junta de Andalucia-Albufera Park in cooperation with the Regional Government Valencia-Paracuellos, Belvis de Jarama in cooperation with Madrid Government exemplify our efforts to restore ecosystems, combat invasive species, replanting native trees, enhance soil, repair neglected floodgates and restore floodplain, contributing significantly to our mission. Our vision extends beyond being water balanced towards being water-positive, by maintaining AND expanding our stewardship efforts in the watersheds where we operate, underscoring our dedication to preserving this essential resource. Because without water, there is no life - and probably more important, no beer. #Waterbalanced#Sustainability #HeinekenSpain" #NGO SEO birdlife and Granada University # Polytechnic University of Valencia# the Complutense University of Madrid)
