Another FA Cup weekend has come and gone, and what a set of matches it was. From the classic showdown between Wolves and West Brom, to the near-upset of my Team United at Newport (But lets not talk about that), and the underdog triumph of Maidstone over Ed Sheeran's Ipswich Town, there were plenty of thrills and surprises. It just goes to show that in football, as in recruiting, anything can happen, and it's important to make the most of every opportunity. 🏆The Ipswich vs Maidstone game was a prime example of this - despite Ipswich having 38 shots and 13 on target, it was Maidstone who made the most of their chances, with only 2 shots and 2 on target, coming out on top with a 2-1 victory. This serves as a reminder that in recruitment, as in football, quality can often matter more than quantity. It's not just about the volume of candidates, but about finding the right fit and making the most of those opportunities. So, as we move forward into the week, let's remember the lessons from this FA Cup weekend. Whether it's in football or in our professional lives, let's make the most of every chance that comes our way, and always strive to be the Maidstone in a world of Ipswiches. #OpportunityKnocks #QualityOverQuantity #LearnFromFootball

THEY THINK IT'S ALL OVER... IT IS NOW!Typically, following a victory and an important event like my first away game since 1996 paired with my 11 year old daughters first ever away game, I'd have posted about 5 posts by now but in honesty, I've been on an absolute roller coaster of emotions since Friday, which has really surprised me and stopped me from posting. If you're unsure what Friday night was all about then take a quick read of this post by me (https://lnkd.in/e5w-iKxx android) before continuing with the rest of this one. So as you've probably now gathered, we didn't make the playoffs and though we won 1-2 on the night, I couldn't help driving back to Greenock from Aberdeen feeling like we'd just lost out on winning the league itself. Getting into the playoffs would have meant another 6 games for us as a team but in no way would have guaranteed us a promotion to the Premier League. Despite that, it's what was behind that and the the amazing season we'd just had which caused the most hurt. We came into the first game of this season with a team of mainly inexperienced youngsters and were almost certainly written off and tipped for relegation. That expectation wasn't just something that the externals thought but also the internals as Dougie Imrie was presented with a budget that screamed relegation. We drew 1-1 in our opening game of the season against Hamilton Academical Football Club Limited which, in fairness, was a decent start. The next match would be against Cove Rangers Football Club at home and one which saw us take our fist victory of the league campaign, winning 1-0. This was a significant game as it was my first game back at Cappielow since 1997 and the first game if ever taken some of my children to.How fitting that our first game of the season, as a family, at Cappielow was a victory against Cove and our last game of the season was a victory against Cove away from home. Anyway, I digress... So, the season progressed and there were highs and lows throughout, we dropped silly points and won games we should never have won. We were unbeaten in 4 against the two teams who, on Friday night, fought it out for the top spot in the league and we found ourselves in a league position that no one, at the start of this season, could have foresaw. We were battling now for a spot in the playoffs. Greenock Morton Football Club *** Post 1 of 2 ***This is post 2 https://lnkd.in/ekZrYJMW

🏆 Pep Guardiola's Manchester City Football Club is celebrating a double triumph – winning the UEFA Champions League and the English Premier league. The secret? A world-class team, tactically positioned by a mastermind coach.Just like the beautiful game ⚽, in last-mile delivery, the importance of having the right team in the right positions is undeniable.1️⃣ The Strikers: Just like the forwards in soccer, our delivery drivers are the face of our business, directly interacting with customers and creating the final impression.2️⃣ The Midfielders: The operations & admin personnel who keep the flow, they ensure smooth transitions between departments - from recruiting to finance to dispatch.3️⃣ The Defenders: The customer support staff who resolve issues, maintain customer relationships, and protect our reputation.4️⃣ The Goalkeeper: Our advanced technology, catching unexpected events, tracking performance, and preserving the efficiency of our service.Bonus- Recruiting! Without this, there is NO team. Like Guardiola, at FULFLLD, we recognize the value of every team member in their respective positions. In the end, it’s all about the right team, the right strategy, and a shared goal. ⚽ 🚚#LastMileDelivery #Team #Logistics #ChampionsLeague #EPL

It's the jersey, the club, the family and history...All of these things are former New Zeland player Sean Fitzpatrick's comments on playing rugby.Demonstrating dedication and passion for the game."When you pull on that jersey, you're not just playing for a rugby club, you're playing for a family and a history that goes back over a century."In my opinion the words empahise the importance of teamwork, love of the job, the perseverance and camaraderie that are important to Sean. Do you know what is important to the individuals in your team, what makes them tickor where their boundaries are drawn? If you can't answer yes, maybe consider asking them at your next one - to - one with them.#managementdevelopment#managementtips#managementskills

My Football Adventures: A “Self-Motivation” story.Through self-motivation, relentless practice, and studying the game's greats, the intention of playing not just for fun but in a team began to seem achievable when I joined up to play in this Football Match. With encouraging words, leading by example, and always pushing others to believe in themselves as much as they did, the team's atmosphere transformed. We fostered a belief that together, we could rise above our ranks, play better, and win.My moment of glory wasn’t far behind. In this crucial match, with the team's hopes hanging by a thread. One goal came, a slick maneuver past the defense, a shot fired into the net. Then another, a testament to determination, fighting through fatigue and pressure. And then, miraculously, a third – a hat-trick of goals that seemed to defy belief. It was Unbelievably Magical. As the final whistle blew, victory was ours, but it was more than just a win; it was a testament to what belief, motivation, and teamwork could achieve. The team, once underdogs, had been transformed into champions, with me, not just a player, but a leader who had shown that the greatest victories often start with a single step of self-motivation.Link 🔗 to the Match Highlights : https://lnkd.in/emYjNWCb#football #sport#EdrizScores #Selfmotivation#goals#Linkedin

Recruitment holds the key.Manchester City won the Champions League last night, maybe proving that money talks at the very highest level of football. But further down the leagues, you will see many variations of this Sunderland story where recruitment of new players during the summer break is the key to success next season. The same holds true for businesses. Good recruitment is vital for success. Picking the best people to invite into your team is as important as Sunderland's quest for new players.Any MD will agree with what Tony Mowbray says in this article "We have to get recruitment right."What new position would improve your team in the next 12 months?#recruitment #team #success #people #football

I recently ran into Nick Easter. For those who do not know Nick, he got 54 caps for the England rugby team. His story is one of belief. I coached Nick at Rosslyn Park in the early 2000’s. He went to Orrell as a professional rugby player. They ran out of money. Nick moved to Rotherham. They ran out of money. Harlequins, by Nick’s own admission, took a punt and signed him. Harlequins got relegated. Within 2 years of Harlequins winning promotion back into the Premiership, Nick was selected for England. When I saw him recently I said to him that I thought that, when he was at Rosslyn Park, he was a very good rugby player but I did not see 50+ England caps in his future. I asked him if he saw England representation in his future given his pathway from level 3 rugby. He said funnily enough he ALWAYS had the belief, he just needed the right environment. This is a story of perseverance, walking the path less trodden, resilience, strength, focus, determination and belief, AND not least of all, the ability to deal with adversity. I have not known one successful person who has not had the above attributes. They are essential IMO. So the question begs -What if a person who has all the above attributes does not achieve their dream ? The answer is simple - it was not meant to be. Your purpose and calling is elsewhere, you just have to find it. And if you maintain all the qualities above, you WILL be successful in another pursuit. #believeinyourself #menshealth Find me at Kent Bray Counselling for counselling, mentoring or if you just have some questions about the direction of your life.
