The Cursed Possessions in Phasmophobia can lead the player on a discovery of the ghost. Whether it will help start a hunt, locate the ghost room, or simply activate random chances for death or success, there are plenty of different uses in Phasmophobia for the Cursed Items, and each has a different use considering one will randomly spawn in every game.

7 Haunted Mirror

Phasmophobia: All Cursed Possessions (& What They Do) (1)

This mirror made me feel…weird.

The purpose of the Haunted Mirror is to show the player that uses it the perception of the ghost itself. This means that players can easily locate the ghost room just by activating the mirror. However, it’s worth noting that players should be careful not to observe the mirror for too long, as if it shatters, a Cursed Hunt will start.

The Haunted Mirror is the easiest of the Phasmophobia Cursed Possessions to use, as it will directly show the player the location of the ghost. However, those that use it should be aware of the sanity drain that comes with using it.

6 Monkey Paw

My wish came true, but at what cost?

A somewhat diabolical and cursed item that can be found in Phasmophobia is the Monkey Paw. The Monkey Paw is one of the more unique Cursed Possessions, and depending on the difficulty of the contract, players can use anywhere from 3 to five wishes.

There are certain phrases that players can utter into their voice chat to trigger a wish, to which the Monkey Paw’s finger will crack and curl, demonstrating that a wish has been granted, but only if the player uses one of the 10 phrases available in the game.

5 Music Box

Phasmophobia: All Cursed Possessions (& What They Do) (3)

A music box, the song is nice, but creepy.

The Music Box is perhaps the most useless of the Phasmophobia Cursed Items due to its purpose. By using the Music Box, players will be able to activate the creepy music that will draw out the ghost. This means that the ghost will reveal its location as it will always appear when the music box is played.

The Music Box will make the ghost sing along with the box, but some consequences are depending on the situation at hand. Players can start a cursed hunt with the Music Box if the box is held close to the ghost, if the ghost is walking, the box is thrown whilst active.

4 Ouija Board

Phasmophobia: All Cursed Possessions (& What They Do) (4)

This Ouija Board allows us to talk with the ghost.

A cursed and often fearful item to paranormal investigators is the dreaded Ouija Board. When players pick up the Ouija Board and activate the dial, they will be able to ask a question to the ghost, to which the ghost will respond to provide definitive information to the player that has asked it something through the use of the dial, circling each letter in response.

Players can ask a few questions to the Ouija Board, but it’s best to be aware that even a single use can easily drain the sanity of the player. If the player leaves the board activated, or has less sanity than required, or even asks for a “hide and seek” the Ouija Board will break, and a cursed hunt will begin.

3 Summoning Circle

This summoning circle looks dangerous.

Usually lurking in the basement areas of Phasmophobia’s maps, the Summoning Circle can be found. The Summoning Circle is demonic and can be used to summon the active ghost. However, to do that, the player needs more than 16% Sanity, otherwise, the candle will blow itself out. If players want to use the Summoning Circle, then they are going to need to bring along some Firelight, like a matchstick or a lighter.

When players decide to ignite all five candles on the Summoning Circle, the ghost will be summoned into the middle of the Pentagram. This ghost will remain motionless and idle for 5 seconds, but after these 5 seconds, a cursed hunt will begin. This event is great for taking a photo of the ghost and starting an event, but it ends in pain thanks to the cursed hunt.

2 Tarot Cards

Some cards we found, they do crazy stuff.

Players can find a deck of Tarot Cards, which will only hold 10 in total. Pulling each card will have a different effect on the environment, the ghost, or the player. Each card, when pulled, will burn a unique color, with a desired or undesired effect occurring based on what the Tarot Card was.

There are a few cards players don’t want to pull, such as the Hanged Man, as it will kill the player. Other fears, like the Death card, will cause a hunt to begin. However, players can find some pretty great cards, such as The High Priestess, which will essentially give players an extra life.

1 Voodoo Doll

Phasmophobia: All Cursed Possessions (& What They Do) (7)

We found this doll, it made the ghost angry.

Perhaps an effigy of the ghost, this small doll has buttons for eyes, stitched lips, and pins placed around its body for extra layers of torture. There are 10 pins stuck inside the doll, and they can be interacted with to push further into the doll’s flesh at random.

Activating the Voodoo Doll will trigger an interaction that can help discover evidence. However, if the pin is pressed into the heart of the Voodoo Doll, a cursed hunt will occur. Each usage of the Voodoo Doll will drain the player’s Sanity, further and further.

Phasmophobia is out on PC, with a PS5 and Xbox Series X/S release scheduled for August 2023.
