The 50 best coffee shops and best cafes in New Orleans (2024)

This trendy 4-star hotel features stylish quarters, a pool, and award-winning Italian restaurant. It is located just 1 mile from the famous French Quarter.

Absolutely obsessed with this place, and make sure I visit at least once a year.Upon arrival you're always being greeted by friendly faces, the thoughtful put together and artistic interior of the hotel makes you feel like you're in a luxury movie (also perfect for those social media pictures!).The rooms are spacious and just have their own whole vibe to them: mystery, richness and magic. The kitchen always outdoes itself: every single time I eat in (or even order room service, the quality of the food is perfect and you can tell that there has been put lots of thought and craft into the food. The bar in and of itself feels like it's own unique movie set, and the co*cktails presented are delish! (I recommend the vodka, champagne and strawberry one).Thank you Ace hotel ❤️

I get that a hotel can’t be all things to all people, all the time. That’s a given, and I can only speak from my experience and observation. My daughter and I have stayed at the Ace three times, loved it. Great location for us, easy walks to what we favor; the rooftop bar is the best in town and perfect for an after dinner co*cktail. In the morning, grab a coffee next door, relax in the magnificent hotel lobby, and watch the trolley pass by, in the rain. This isn’t the Holiday Inn nor the Ritz Carlton; the Ace is a different experience and it works for us.A more convenient ice machine would be a plus.

I love this place, a go-to when visiting the city. Everyone at the desk is helpful and super social. Dark rooms, standard king is cool but the rooftop king suite is worth the upgrade, huge semi-private balcony with loungers and table for hosting. Late night DJ sets will not disappoint. Day parties at the pool are so much fun, great drinks n cool people working up there! Just wouldn't expect to swim because the pool is known to be taped off for various happenings.

Had a really great experience here during the Essence festival. The staff were friendly and accommodating to the needs of myself along with other members from my team. Our suites were spacious with cool things in the room such as a guitar and vinyl player, giving the room an added flare. The rooftop is the fan favorite with great views of the city. Will def be staying here again on future trips!

Great "different" atmosphere! Pool and bar on the roof is pretty nice with great views! Service was excellent. Only issue was the A/C didn't keep up and was kind of loud. We didn't ask to move and dealt with it. So, not their fault. We were already settled in and didn't want to move after a long day.

Ace Hotel was a vibe! The location is incredible, convenient, and close to everything! The pool was perfect, with great frozen drinks and food.I loved how they had a bar, restaurant, and coffee shop steps away!Unfortunately, I’m giving them a 3 for service because we requested a robe and for our TV to be fixed (it wasn't working) twice, and no one showed up. Otherwise, we had a good experience and would love to come back. The products supplied can be purchased on their website or in the lobby. The merchandise is everything! Check it out 💖

Michael at the front desk is amazing! My fiancé and I were originally were put in a room with two beds, he switched our room at no extra cost and also accommodated us with late check out. The restaurant downstairs is pretty good and having the coffee shop on site is clutch. Cable was out during our stay and the pool wasn’t heated, but still recommend this hotel and would go back.

I’m going to start with the most important thing…Their Service is Flawless. Literally everyone is committed and happy to serve! We had a corporate event and their event staff was amazing. The presentation food quality, everything was TOP SHELF.Speaking of Top Shelf, order the Mona Lysa at the lobby bar…it was amazing and introduced me to my new favorite scotch…it was developed by one of their in-house mixologists and it was FIRE!!!The rooftop is really cool the theme is awesome, the rooms are well appointed (though the beds aren’t the most comfortable), and you feel transported into the theme at every corner. The attached restaurant is awesome.I loved it!

Do not bring your oversize truck for valet. My 2024 was dinged in their care and I never got an answer of what happened or a resolution. The younger valet had my tow mirrors out and parked so far into the road the trolley threatened to take my mirror next time. This is a brand new, almost 100k truck that was treated like that. The establishment was okay, definitely expected better sound proofed rooms but they were cute. Check your charges, because there's a daily destination fee you aren't told about and they'll charge overnight valet for every DAY you stay. I stayed 5 days and used 4 overnight valet. I was charged for 5 and never given an answer why.The bars are far below expectation for what they charge. $16 for a 4oz drink that tastes awful and is warm. I didn't even attempt to order the food after that. Mini bar prices are ridiculous, but it is convenient.

We had a marvelous time! This hotel's location is perfect for walking to a lot of tourist activities. Breakfast at Josephine Estelle was delicious and filling. Every night we came back to the hotel we had a really good co*cktail at the bar. The rooftop pool was fabulous. The best part, though, was the amazing staff who took such great care of everything!!!

Super dark but very clean place to stay. Staff was incredibly kind and helpful! Fun in house music, bar, cafe, and nice dine in restaurant. Exciting local festivities going into the weekend. We walked everywhere from our hotel. We just paid the day rate for parking across the hotel and we could actually see our car from our hotel window.I’ll be back and recommend to anyone that doesn’t have a hard time seeing in dark lit hotel.

Great place to stay in NOLA! The staff was kind and helpful, the rooms were nice. Excellent live music happening most nights I stayed there. Enjoyed the pool, good coffee in the morning, and complimentary bike use to explore the city. Good location with a short walk to French Quarter or the river front

I am from Louisiana and have been to New Orleans dozens of times. I've stayed in every 4 and 5-star hotel in the city. The Ace Hotel is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. We were there for a wedding and that was where the ceremony and party was, unfortunately. Where do I start? 1) The valet went through my entire vehicle and took anything of value. I never got any resolution or even a call-back. 2) They over charged me for my room and valet. Two weeks after the fact and I'm still fighting for the credit. 3) The floor in my room (#807) was slippery and gross. My wife had to put on shoes every time she got out of bed so she wouldn't have to touch it. And everything in the bathroom is black. I think they are trying to hide the nastiness. 4) Lunch at Josephine Estelle was average at best. 5) The girl working the coffee shop was rude and in a bad mood each of the three mornings we were there. You couldn't pay me to stay here again. The worst experience I have ever had in any hotel.

This is a cute hotel, my friends and I did a day pass for the pool for a "Sunday Funday". The co*cktails are 5/5! They are delicious, strong and perfect for a hot day. The location is 5/5 right in the heart of downtown near everything and is very walkable. The pool is 3/5 because though cute and the rooftop views are unbeatable, the pool was not the cleanest, quite murky, full of large clumps of hair and trash (cups, water bottles) at the bottom. But a goodtime was had by all :)

Stayed here for two nights. The first night we were put on the third floor, it was super loud. The windows are old and you can hear literally everything. The air in the room was stagnant. There is no ventilation. Not even a fan in the bathrooms. The toilet is approx two feet from the bed. Got no sleep. I went down the next morning, they were super nice, moved us to a different room, paid an additional 40$ to be in a bigger room. This room was much quieter and tolerable. When you showered the water pooled and leaked all over the floor. This is not a hotel I would seek out to stay in. I would go there to grab some drinks on the roof and thats about it. Staff was super helpful and friendly, 5 stars on the staff. The rooms are a deal breaker. Expect to pay a destination fee as well after you check out.

Having been to other Ace hotels, the rooms here were a bit bland and less comfortable. The rooftop pool bar was great, and the first floor facilities are beautiful, inviting, and lively. There are also worthwhile shopping to do on the block. Location is okay, walkable but not super close to both Garden District and French Quarter.

Loved our stay here. Staff was always super friendly- from check-in, bar staff, restaurant, valet gents at the door, and rooftop staff.Rooftop has a really cool vibe at night and highly recommend the Alto Bar. The Three Keys bar is also great with a wide variety of spirits, and co*cktails.Rooms were spacious (double queen) and clean. Loved walking into my room for the first time and having the radio on to New Orleans jazz. It’s the little things that go a long way!

Stayed here last week for the first time. Been to NYC and London's Ace Hotel before.Check-in was smooth and friendly. I got room 431 which was a good size for the bedroom and washroom. Balcony was a nice addition to the room...I forgot I booked a balcony room. The hotel is huge and takes up most of the city block. Multiple restaurants and businesses throughout the hotel. Seaworthy is a must stop if you want shrimp and grits.Looks like past guests had candy wrappers under the bed that got missed during cleaning. Not a huge issue but something I noticed after dropping money under the bed.

Bree on at the front desk was amazing. She was so sweet even mailed something for me to my mom. So helpful. I can’t say enough good things about her. I wish I could remember the hosts name at the restaurant but he was so helpful and also a vegetarian like me. I can’t recommend this hotel enough. They both provided some of the best service could ever ask for. Thank you guys so much.

We LOVE the vibe of ACE. The art deco is creates a relaxing atmosphere. The staff is AMAZING! Brie, the front desk host, answers phone in friendly professional manner. She listens to your concerns and did an EXCELLENT job accommodating all of our needs. The hotel is conveniently located with the quarter in walking distance! The Josephine Estelle Restaurant has the same incredible service and has delicious food options! Last but not least is the Alto, the rooftop bar and pool! It truly is my HAPPY PLACE!! This was our fourth stay at this ACE location! We will definitely be back!!

The guest rooms feel like a dorm room - very cold and industrial. No place (except the bed) to sit and have a drink or coffee. The large refrigerator is so loud it wakes a normal sleeper.Ambiance of the room leaves much to be desired. We always spend a lot of time walking while in NOLA but we created extra reasons to leave the room because the room was so uncomfortable.Beds and linens feel cheap and only one person gets a bedside table/nightstand.One note of redemption- the front desk staff was very warm and welcoming.

The lobby and entertainment shows are top notch here. Definitely a cooler crowd of all ages- everyone has good taste and dresses well that stays here. Common vibe with the Ace Hotel brand. They attract a certain type of person.I am only rating four starts because the rooms are just okay- the medium room felt cramped (was the only one available during our stay) and at 8 am the housekeeping team knocked on our door to ask how long we’d stay before checkout. That’s the opposite of hospitality.

Cielo Varcel — Google review

Don’t bother staying here.We experienced not nice service, an average room—at best, and we couldn’t use the pool comfortably as paid guests. The pool is not heated for cool spring days (April), and the staff told us we could not sit in certain pool seats because they were ‘reserved’ although there were no signs indicating that, and there was no where else to sit, and there was no option to ‘reserve’ them ourselves. The fridge in the room creaked when opening it, and made noises at night keeping us up. There is no water or coffee included in the price of the stay, it’s $6 per regular water, and the ice machine is only on the second floor — not the other 8 floors.TLDR: there are no amenities here that justify the price of a stay. Much nicer stays elsewhere in town. Would absolutely not stay here again. Also, there are mice running underfoot at their restaurant next door, Seaworthy. They said they had traps out (we didn’t see any), but they are coming from the brick wall and the unsealed holes there — not outside.

Great location. We had an issue with the room and they moved us to another one with ease. The new room seemed to be a bit damp even with the ac on 68. ( no capacity for us to make it any cooler than that)They have live music with people coming in that aren’t guests of the hotel. The jazz was great but later they’d have loud hip hop , rap. We were on the 6th floor & it wasn’t too loud for sleeping.

Debbie Herman — Google review

The hotel is beautiful, the staff are AWESOME, and the location is perfect. Also there’s a great coffee shop connected to the hotel (Lovage). But I would NOT stay here again—the AC in the rooms barely works (my friends’ rooms all had the same issue even after the wonderful maintenance guy tired his hand at jiggering the units; they just don’t really work. Don’t be fooled by the cold lobby). The room felt like a poorly-designed dungeon. If you like to sleep cold and have proper airflow in the room, this hotel is not for you. For the price, I would’ve rather stayed at one of many nearby hotels and checked out the trendy Ace lobby for a drink.

With a mix of curated authentic and reproductions of mid-century furniture and accents throughout, the hotel was well-maintained and superbly located. The Ace was pleasantly cool—a welcomed reprieve from New Orleans’ oppressively hot summer days, but also cool in that the lobby converts seamlessly into a surprisingly hip club (complete with a DJ) on evenings (weekends); there’s an in-house Italian restaurant (didn’t choose to dine there, but the menu seemed reasonable).Rooms are clean and spacious, but they do not supply rooms with complimentary water (if they do, they keep that a secret). The TVs do NOT allow guests to stream from Netflix orany other streaming service, so curb your viewing expectations.Showers are decent and the water pressure is good. One area of growth: there is a half-an-inch gap between the room door and the floor, which means guests on either side of the door can hear what’s going on on the other side of the door. On this particular stay, that meant hearing the dog of a guest bark incessantly for 6 hours in the evening. I phoned reception and nothing was done about it, so half an hour later I paid them a visit. Again, nothing was done. It was nearly 11 p.m. when the dog finally went quiet. Not sure about their pet policy, but I can assure you: it’s not a good one.I still give them 4 out 5 stars because everything else was decent and the workers were extremely polite.

I want to like this hotel - I really do. It's beautifully designed, the staff are, for the most part, friendly and responsive, the location is incredible...but when the AC quit in my room on the second of a three-day stay, their only response was to hand me a box fan. The engineer, somewhat hilariously, thought he could fix it by punching the right thermostat buttons, to no effect. Hey - these things happen. But no apology, no attempt to move me to a room with actual climate control, no anything. Just a box fan. This, along with Ace riding the odious wave of charging for everything that, in a gentler time, was considered simple gracious hospitality (Check in early? Leave late? Upgrade to a room that has a view other than overlooking an alley? Pay a fee!) left me wanting other options for my next visit.

There was no hot water for the entire first night we were there (building hot water issue) and we were therefore asked to not use any water. Toilets did not work also because of this. The beds were not very comfortable and felt like very inexpensive, thin mattresses. However, the inside of the hotel is very aesthetically pleasing with a lot of great plants and a wonderful bar and coffee shop. The staff is generally helpful but I have had an issue getting them to follow through on refunds due to the water inconvenience issue. Probably would not stay here again.

We were accommodated at the Ace Hotel after a hotel we were supposed to stay at nearby was having pipe issues, and so we didn't really know what to expect. The staff from the front door/desk to Josephine Estelle were super sweet! The hotel itself is gorgeous; the atmosphere was chic and fun. The only qualms I had were that the beds weren't the softest, the walls seemed to be a little thin, so you could hear people having just regular conversations, and at the time of our visit, only 1 elevator worked, so while we were able to take the stairs, I know some people are not able to do so, and the wait for the elevator could be a bit extensive.Otherwise, great location, we were there to see a football game and were able to walk to the stadium from there! Plus, street parking was free on the weekends!Would stay again, maybe in a different type of room, to see if the beds are a little different!

A wonderful place to stay. The art deco vibe is a great way to experience New Orleans, it’s far enough from the French Quarter that you can sleep, but close enough to be an easy walk to everything. Clean, comfortable and very helpful and friendly staff. The bar and coffee shop are great. We really enjoyed our stay.

I enjoyed my stay. Rooms had a large enough space and was great for two people. Rooms were nice but dimly lit which made getting ready a little difficult. The valet was great and attentive. My big drawback is I purchased my stay at the hotel specifically because I utilized a promo that allowed for a $40 dining credit. I inquired about it at check-in where I was told that the credit did not show up on our account. Generally flexible, I said "okay" and kept moving. After check-out and receiving my final bill, I see that the room was clearly booked and listed as "Book Direct $40 Dinner Credit." Due to someone's oversight, the other guest and I were unable to benefit from this promo.

This hotel was really a mixed bag for us. The location and service was great, but the room design and the restaurant left a lot to be desired. We stayed in two rooms during our eight night stay. Both were exceedingly dim and without sufficient lighting. I get the "moody" aesthetic, but some times you just want to see what you're doing. The design felt cold and unfinished, maybe? Not sure, but something was definitely off.

Such a Vibe-y hotel. We stayed for 3 nights. Valet & door people were very courteous, welcoming& attentive. Check in staff was not. It was a very awkward, quiet, uninformative check in. Lobby was clean and smelled nice. Room was great, no complaints at all. Well stocked fridge and snacks bin (for a price of course) --It was nice to come back from day outings to a tidy and amazing smelling room. Bartenders & drinks at the lobby bar were great.

Top notch everything! The deco decor & amber lighting set a very elegant tone. All the staff made you feel like you were an honored guest of the hotel owner. They also have so many private uncrowded spaces for conversations/catching up with friends——-this is a whole ecosystem; pool, bar, cafe, restaurant —night club—-yes stay here you’ll love it !

Bathroom sink clogged and not fixed during my entire stay of 4 days, even though I communicated the issue to the front desk immediately.Too dark room, difficult to see inside cabinets/wardrobe.Snacks not replenished. No "Do not disturb" tag available.Clean and spacious room. My room was silent, but a friend stayed in another room that was really noisy because it was close to the elevator.Great location.Courteous and friendly staff.

Stayed in the King Suite, which was warm, big, and spacious.Everything was not too bad except that...1. Chromecast wasn't working with the iPhone and we were told that because its the weekend nothing much could be done as this is an issue with the service provider.2. Hotel's website had a dubious link which led to an unsecured platform - we informed front desk about this3. Strange to not have small spoons available in the room aside from the cups and glasswareOn the plus side..1. Bathroom toiletries were a refreshing blend that was very relaxing and soothing2. There was also an old school record player that was working along with some very nice jazz records made available
